Last semester of grad school. So much work not enough time. I feel like I should be freaking out right aboout now. My work for the MFA show is going slow but it is going. Slow progress is better than no progress. I feel kind of numb to it all. I should be thinking about job hunting but I have to graduate first. One thing at a time. First things first. Not dead yet. I have that going for me.
Firing 9/15/09
Unloaded the kiln and was not happy. The glazes worked out good but every show worthy piece cracked. I am seriously thinking about going back to using stonerware instead of b-mix. Glazes won't be as bright but less chance of cracks.
Firing 9/13/09
Fired a kiln load of some new work with new glaze combos. I was almost done and managed to set off the fire alarm. the kiln shut down and had to leave building for abot 45 min. Lost about 300 degrees and it took over 3 hours to finish. I hope everthing turns out ok
3rd year of grad school
After a not so productive summer I have a lot of work to do for my MFA show in May.I really felt burned out this summer and needed a little break. Some days I think that clay is my worst enemy. I am having technical problems with cracking on some new larger pieces and haven't been able to figure out some new glazes. Hopefully in the next few months it will all come together.
NCECA
5 days till we leave for Pheonix. Still have a lot of work to do before I leave and when I come back.
3/16/09Firing results
Firing went ok. a few decent pieces. Some crawling glaze. I shouldn't eat pizza before I glaze. Greasy fingers!
fire today
Just finished firing a kiln of new work. Some new work is on the way.
spring break
Glazing and firing latest pieces over spring break. I wish I was some place warm on a beach drinking cold beer. Maybe next spring break.
